The Creed of Determination

Posted on April 29, 2009 | Filed Under Philosophical Reflections

determination

“If you really want something, you can figure out how to make it happen.”  -Cher-

I will not give up.  I will not surrender.  I will be the person I want to be.  I have come too far to be defeated; I will give my very breath to reach my destiny.  I refuse to ever go back and will forever keep moving forward.  I will take control of my choices and responsibility for my actions.  I will become the person of my making and exist as the person God created.  I am responsible for who I am today and I will choose my destiny for tomorrow.

I choose to be happy.  I choose not to sweat the small stuff.  I remain fresh everyday because I am willing to face life’s challenges with the anticipation of overcoming.  I will find the hope in the valley.  I will find comfort in my solitude.  I will find an opportunity in my challenges.  I will face my pain by committing myself to growth.  I will never be the person I am today again.

I choose to be determined.

Transforming Our Lives

butterfly“I am personally convinced that one person can be a change catalyst, a ‘transformer’ in any situation, any organization.  Such an individual is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf.  It requires vision, initiative, patience, respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming leader.”   -Stephen R. Covey-

The caterpillar spins the cocoon to encase itself.  It looks nothing like what it will become.  Through what science seeks to explain, philosophers seek to learn from, and the spiritual seek to find the miracle in – we can understand the simple message that life changing experience precipitates the caterpillar becomes a butterfly.

In your deepest of sorrows, your moments where you feel you are encased in a situation, you will find an opportunity to become something greater than what you are today.  Sorrow is the moment we are able to be transformed.  Too many times you find ourselves trapped in your sorrow and you feel like giving up.  In our own consumption of pity for your life, you miss the hidden opportunity.   The hidden opportunity for miracles to really happen.

You alone will determine what your cocoon will turn you into.  As one friend once said, you can become a bitter old person or a child waiting to be reborn.  The truth of the matter is that your transformation is totally up to you.   The greatest of leaders have been refined in the transforming fires of life.  Their failures and limitations allowed them to become something greater than who they initially were.

Do you allow troubles to overwhelm you or motivate you?  Do you allow them to depress you or teach you?  Do you allow them to discourage you or push you to achieve?  Transform yourself to become the next miracle your life so desperately needs.

The Secret To Success

Posted on April 15, 2009 | Filed Under Featured, Philosophical Reflections

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”  -Michael Jordan-

It has been said that we live in a dog eat dog world.  In the business world people clamour over one another to get ahead and in doing so create more enemies than friends.  Their tactics may get them ahead in the short term; however, it is the very downfall of them in time.  No person ever succeeds alone!

The true secret to success is to help other people succeed.  When you expend energy and help other people become greater than what they are, you will become greater than what you are in the process.   Leaders always stand on the shoulders of others.  Great leaders stand on the shoulders of Giants!  When you help make people great, successful, loved, whole, and so on, then you have the opportunity to become something great yourself.

While Michael Jordan has been named one of the all time best basketball players, even he acknowledges that it takes the entire team to win a championship.  Individuality can only take you so far.  Then you have to join the team and help others become great.  You must share in the spotlight and support the efforts of others.

Success is a team effort.  You must participate to truly get to the next level.  Make sure you are playing on the right team!  Most of all, help someone else succeed.  If you help enough people succeed, then you will a success yourself.

The Miracle of Life

Posted on April 9, 2009 | Filed Under Philosophical Reflections

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”   -Albert Einstein -

It is so easy to take things for granted.  You can get so involved in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget all the wonderful things around us.  A man who lived just outside Paris, France once stated he had never been to the Eiffel Tower.  A woman who lived just outside London, England said she had never seen Buckingham Palace.  Another individual who lived just outside of New York City had never hung out in Time Square.  Does any of this matter?

So often we live with some of the greatest miracles around us and yet we never see them.  They are just part of the background of our life.  A tiny new born baby is brought into this world.  Someone who is dying is given a second chance.  Someone who was hopeless and depressed found a new lease on why they exist.  From the very small to the major life changing events, they are miracles.

Life is fragile and miracles are abundant.  You can look and find them in every part of your life.  Show appreciation and show amazement.  Show gratitude and show wonder.  You are living this miracle called life!

Your Life’s Testimony

Posted on April 7, 2009 | Filed Under Philosophical Reflections

“May you live all the days of your life.”  -Jonathan Swift -

What do people remember about you when they meet you?  Is it the beautiful eloquence with which you displayed the mastery of the human language?  Most likely it will be who you were and what you did for them.  Our lives speak louder than any words you may say.  Our actions communicate more than our soliloquy’s of life.

Did you show a random act of kindness?  Did you let someone know they mattered?  Did you get the opportunity to help someone smile?  Did you take the time to show you care?  This is what you are remembered for in life.

It is not too late!  If our life is like the smoke barrelling out of a tall smoke stack, your choices this very moment are the wind which will determine which way your smoke blows.  It can blow towards doing good and spreading a positive message with your life or it can blow in a self-serving way that only you benefit from.  You will determine where it goes and if it ever changes.

Let your life be your testimony and remember to cherish every moment you have to say something loud and clear with your life.  Let your life be your testimony – not just your words.  What is it saying?

A Moment of Inspiration

Posted on April 5, 2009 | Filed Under Philosophical Reflections

“Every Artist was first an amateur.”  (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

In great inspiration there is typically one moment we are able to point to that marks the commencement of the light that goes off in our head.  It is usually a fleeting second that has an “ah ha moment” that can either put a simple smile on our face or it will be something that will change our life.

A young boy who grew up in the depths of poverty was working his first job when a business man came in.  The business man offered to show the young boy his company and what it did.  The young boy enthusiastically agreed.  He took that young boy and showed him vehicles that the boy only saw in magazines and on television.  The young boy was shown that dreams do come true.  Large homes, expensive jewelry, and many things the impoverished boy had only heard about.  The boy was never the same.  The young boy became a young man and has the opportunity to resent what he doesn’t have OR he can capture the moment and use it to drive the enthusiasm he can develop.

Inspiration happens to everyone.  Successful people do not let this moment pass by without letting it change their lives, their beliefs, and their existence.  Inspiration is present in your life, the question is will you take the opportunity to see it?
